Say the thing you haven't said to anyone at work
Remote burnout stays invisible because there's nobody in the room to notice it. Write down what's actually going on: the manager who messages at 11pm, the week where you spoke to nobody, the fact that you can't tell when your day ended. You can be completely anonymous.
Before you send: what this is and isn't
- This is general perspective from years of remote work, not professional mental health, HR or legal advice, and not a substitute for either.
- If anything is urgent, or you're in crisis, please contact a licensed professional, your GP, or a local crisis line now rather than waiting on a reply here.
- For anything contractual or workplace-legal (discrimination, grievance, dismissal, medical leave entitlements), go to a qualified employment adviser, your union, or your HR team.
- Many employers offer a confidential EAP with free counselling sessions you can access directly, without telling your manager why.
- Nothing is ever published without your explicit consent, and published posts are anonymized with identifying details changed.
